Yoga is an excellent practice for mobility, flexibility, breath, core control, and body awareness—but it doesn’t fully develop all muscle groups or provide the resistance intensity needed for optimal muscle hypertrophy (growth) balanced strength, or optimal body composition. And- it doesn’t load the bones enough to prevent age-related decline.
To create a resilient and strong body, we need to supplement yoga with targeted strength and power training. While yoga strengthens many postural and stabilizing muscles, certain muscle groups tend to be underdeveloped, undertrained or not loaded sufficiently for hypertrophy.
